Christmas 2017

Connie started the year off with some really good luck. There is a Super Bowl Pool at work where you buy boxes and then they randomly assign the numbers. In other words it is pure luck. Connie actually won the money for 2 of the 4 quarters. She won around $500 !!!!

We got a new "toy" this year. It is Hazel our Roomba. It is a automatic vacuum cleaner. It does a great job and is interesting to watch. Our carpets are definitely cleaner than they have ever been before.

Connie has gotten hooked on Shutterfly. It is a website where you can create all sorts of things with your pictures. She made a mug for her mother and several books. If you get a present from Connie, don't be shocked if it is from Shutterfly.

Connie didn't go to as many country music concerts as in 2016 but she did go see Kelly Pickler, Dierks Bentley and Sawyer Brown.

Connie got a new smart phone. Her old one had so little memory that she couldn't use many apps. Her new android phone isn't real fancy but does has 32 GB of storage so now she has all sorts of apps. She is much happier with it.

Connie is still attending The Church of the Highlands in Huntsville   http://www.churchofthehighlands.com
She even got baptized with a full immersion. The messages are always really good. They are available online so she can watch the ones that she can't attend because she is in Mississippi. She invites you to check them out.

We are still big hockey fans. We've been to several of the SPHL Huntsville Havoc games. Connie even went to one of the NHL Nashville Predator's playoff games. It was more expensive than she usually will pay for a ticket but it was worth it because it was the most exciting live event she has ever attended. She hopes to be able to go to some regular season games.

Connie went to her usual one live Tennessee Titans game. We spend a long weekend in Nashville when she goes. While there she went to ICE! at the Gaylord Opry. She has wanted to go to ICE! for years when it was in Orlando at the Gaylord Palms. She didn't like it as much as she thought because the ice statues that are colored look like they are plastic not ice. The clear ones are really pretty.

The UCF (University of Central Florida) football team is doing great. They just finished their season undefeated. They won the American Athletic Conference. We are hoping for a really good bowl game. Unfortunately, because they did so good their head coach (Scott Frost) has been signed with Nebraska. Hopefully, we'll get someone good and still do well.

The eclipse affected our area. We weren't in the area where there was a big impact but we did get some eclipse glasses and the sun did look interesting. Some people we knew went to the area where the full eclipse was experienced and they raved about it. Since the next one will be relatively close and after I retire we will probably go where we can experience a full eclipse.

Connie and her Mom's annual trip was a week long trip out west. It includes Santa Fe, Mesa Verde, Canyon du Chelly, Grand Canyon and Sedona. It was a really good trip.

Meade and Connie went to Walt Disney World for a week for their 40th wedding anniversary. They stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort. It has been over 15 years since we have been. We had forgotten how much fun it is. We also bought the Memory Maker plan so got some really good pictures. We're definitely going to go again more often, probably every 5 years. We got chased out of Florida before being able to visit Connie's mom and brother by hurricane Irma. Luckily we got to see Lee when he came out to visit us. We usually don't drive straight home but there were no available hotel rooms because of all the evacuees. Luckily none of Connie's family were impacted by the storm (well except for losing power).

Connie also made a few business trips. One was to Savannah. She went on a ghost tour of the historic downtown and on an hour long cruise of the river. She also went to San Diego. While there she went to the Safari Park and Balboa Park. She also went to the Marine Room which is the fanciest restaurant she had ever been to. It is right on the water so close that the waves wash up on the windows. Henry a team member who lives in San Diego had a party to celebrate our project.

Meade had some trouble with plantar fascitis. Luckily he didn't have a severe case. But he does have to be careful to pay attention and take care of it if it starts to act up.

Meade is now using a concierge doctor. We pay an annual fee and his doctor has much fewer patients than most doctors so he gets much quicker and more complete attention by the doctor. Meade really likes the doctor and we feel like he is getting much better care. My brother has had a concierge doctor for a few years and also likes it a lot.

Hope you have a great Christmas. Feel free to contact us at connielgg@yahoo.com
